This Artist Reimagined Disney Princesses As Black Women And The Images Are Incredible

"What if some of the most iconic women in the world were black women?"

This is Davian Chester, a graphic designer and illustrator from Columbus, Georgia.

Davian, who also works as an elementary school art teacher, has reimagined Disney princesses as black women and the images are incredible.

He's recreated classic characters such as Snow White and Belle...

...as well as newer ones, like Anna and Elsa.

The 25-year-old revealed his inspiration, telling BuzzFeed it was "the lack of representation of black women in mainstream media."

He continued, "I created this collection to ask people: What if some of the most iconic women in the world were black women? They would be bold, black, and beautiful with all shades of color."

"I love to create black beauty, and we need as much as we can. I have so many ideas I want to share with the world."

Davian explained that he's been drawing since the 5th grade, and drawing digitally since high school. And though he attended college for graphic design, he said that his illustration work is mostly self-taught.

With hopes of becoming more well-known as an artist, Davian has expanded his art to include not just drawings, but also character design and animation.
