Jake Weary Answers 19 Random Questions

Freddy or Jason?

Posted on

You might have seen actor Jake Weary on a number of your fave TV shows (do Pretty Little Liars, Chicago Fire, and Law and Order: SVU ring a bell?). But this month, Jake is turning his focus to the movie theater with his new horror flick It Follows — which premiered to rave reviews, by the way — as well as appearing in the film Zombeavers.

Jake stopped by the BuzzFeed L.A. offices to answer some pertinent questions like whether he'd rather fight zombies or zombeavers.

2. What movie scared you the most as a child?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

JW: I used to watch it as a little kid and it would scare the crap out of me. I'm not a big clown person, and there's an evil demon clown. There's a scene where he grabs the kid and pulls him through the sewer.

4. What's the last thing you googled?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

JW: It was actually last night 'cause I was peeing a lot.

BuzzFeed: Is it OK? Now I'm just worried for you.

JW: I looked at the one thing and it was like, "Do you drink coffee? Seltzer water?" And I was like, yep, pretty much on a daily basis.

6. Do you prefer acting in movies or on TV?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

JW: I think with movies there's more time and effort invested. I think with TV everything moves a lot quicker because you have X amount of seasons you're working with. And new writers [are] coming in all the time, and not everyone's as fully invested as someone that's written a film and has been working on it two years, preproduction. So I feel like with film, you're in a place for a month and that's all you can think about and all you can do, and it just seems more of a collaborative effort.

8. Whose career would you want to emulate?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

JW: Someone who I really respect as an actor and an artist and I also respect his ability to ride through his career kind of under the radar. [He's] also in movies that were just nominated for an Oscar, but I talk to people all the time and they're like, "Wait, who's Ethan Hawke?" He's just very low-key and not really in the spotlight that much, and I hear he's just a really cool guy. And he plays really interesting characters.

BuzzFeed: This is your PSA to be his best friend.

JW: Yep. Hi, Ethan Hawke! Hit me up, man, let's hang out.

10. What's been your favorite acting role?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

JW: I think it was the most emotive thing I've ever done and we shot in Detroit. It was just such an experience being in that city and getting to play a character with so many layers and so much depth and with an actual arc.

13. What are your biggest pet peeves?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

JW: When people just can't make a decision, it drives me absolutely insane. And Rainbow flip-flops. I think flip-flops are just ridiculous — no protection for your feet!

14. Do you prefer NYC or L.A.?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

JW: Come on. God, that's hard. They're so different. I kind of need to be in L.A., but I'm a New York kid at heart. I love New York. The city is just so energetic and the people there — it's just got this energy that I don't think any other city can match.

15. Would you rather deal with zombies or zombeavers?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

JW: I think it would be easier to deal with zombeavers, but it'd be more fun to deal with zombies.

BuzzFeed: Even if like your best friend got turned into a zombie, a zombeaver is just an animal. I've thought a lot about this.

JW: I know. I think if my best friend would turn into a zombie, I would keep him hostage in a way and just like that chick on Walking Dead.

17. If you could have one thing follow you for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

BuzzFeed: But does it change if she's out to kill you?

JW: Well, yeah, I wouldn't want her to kill me!

18. Have you had any hookups as bad as the one your character has in It Follows?

Macey J. Foronda / BuzzFeed

JW: [This happened] in an episode of Law and Order when I was like 13. And I impregnated her. It was a big deal for me and my 13-year-old self.
