Uber Is Installing Breathalysers Around Mumbai And Will Send Cabs To Drunk People

The taxi service has teamed up with Mumbai police to fight drunk driving.

Uber has just announced a partnership with the Mumbai Traffic Police to install Uber breathalysers at bars and pubs around the city.

"Through this campaign, we aim to build awareness against drunk-driving and give people a convenient and reliable ride back home," said Shailesh Sawlani, GM of Uber Mumbai. "We hope to work with the Mumbai Traffic Police to install these devices across all bars and pubs in the city."

If someone's alcohol content is over the legal limit, a message on the screen helps them request a ride home, instead of driving.

And if it's their first Uber ride, it's free.

Let's hope this goes a long way against drunk driving.
