People Think This Statue Is The Funniest Thing About Pelé's Visit To India

Glorious footballing moment, or one statue's desperate cry for help?

Pelé, who is expected at the Indian Super League match between Atletico de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters later today, took in some Durga Puja celebrations soon after he landed.

I mean, it's obvious what they're going for, but from here it looks a bit like the statue is crying out in pain as a result of being unexpectedly impaled.

I dunno if it's the leg angle. Is it the leg angle? It's probably the leg angle.

He also met up with Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman, who is incidentally making the score for Pelé's upcoming biopic.

With the awesome @Pele in Calcutta...!

The two celebrities, along with former cricketer Sourav Ganguly, were part of an event in Netaji Indoor Stadium, which was also attended by Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of West Bengal.

There was this sliiightly awkward moment when Rahman was talking and dada kinda nodded off, while Pelé appeared to wonder when the cake would be cut.

Yes, that's a cake. It's a tasty replica of the original Jules Rimet World Cup trophy, which Brazil kept permanently after their third triumph in 1970.

All things considered, statues and cakes included, Pelé seems quite content.

The love that I have received has been beautiful, just like I remember from 38 years ago during my last trip here.
