Quick thoughts, more research needed.
Okay, rant time. What the flop is going on in Israel, Westbank, and Gaza. Does it have to do with religion, or is it a power struggle for land or is it both? To say this has nothing to do with religion is BS. Right now civilians are being murdered on both sides. Israelites and Palestinians. Why are these two sides still fighting? After all these years, they don't have it worked out? The al-aqsa mosque in Jerusalem is the third holiest site in the Sunni sect of the Islamic religion. For Judaism, Jerusalem has been the center of their religious retreats since 10th C BCE. King David said he would capture the city and build the holy temple there, and it would be the center of worship for all of humanity one day. For Christians, Jesus was born in nearby bethlehem, and Jerusalem was where he did a lot of his preaching and healing. So the three abrahamic religions share a holy site. Coincidence? No, that's not the only thing those three religions have in common. But back to what matters. Innocent people are being killed in war watched by the world in 2014. In a time where information is instantaneous, and help is slow. What do we do? Do we sit back and watch? Do we try to help? Which side do we help? Traditionally we side with Israel because we have close ties with them due to their and our relationship with the United States. Or Maybe, because we Christians use their old Hebrew bible, who knows. This historically has to do with religion. All three of these religions advocate for peace (for the most part), yet their followers still use violence as a solution to the issues. The Christians seemed to have worked it out with the Jews and Muslims, there does not seem to be any political tension. The Christians seemed to have gotten all of their fighting out of them by the time the crusades ended. They had enough. By no means have they been perfect people since. RELIGION is doing more harm than good at this point. The three abrahamic religions are so similar. It was like a bad game of telephone over the years. People took and twisted the stories and made them accommodating to their culture. The prophet Abraham appears in all three holy books ( Bible, Torah and Quaran). The same guy!!! How is this possible.
