I think love and everything that goes with it is awesome. I also believe that many people have an inflated sense of what love is. I look at any couple that have gone the distance and I see that love is work. every couple is different as to how much effort they put in or are able to put in. Relationships are also subjective to the times. The way my nonna and nonnos relationship evolved is different from the way my parents marriage rolled out. Grandparents crossed an ocean on a boat named after a hero (Columbus), who wasnt actually a hero. They had children and started a new life. They had a path set out for them. My parents did what everyone was doing, they got married. No doubt there were struggles along the way. Maybe the fairy tale stuff can last the whole relationship? I'm not sure. From what i've seen, these people have children together, make a life together, love one another through the process, even if it isn't always pretty.
