Glamping is the new black. Sorry REI and Northface, but we're kicking things up a notch. Below, brush up on your glamping skills, and learn how to take any camping trip from crunchy to chic.
1. Setup. Okay, not everyone can afford this, so get creative. Take your basic nylon pop up and creatively bungee a canvass or fabric archway to hide unsightly (albeit waterproof) fabric.
2. Booze. Obviously. No styrofoam coolers here! Opt to decant your whiskey into mason jars, or better yet, the flask above, complete with its own shot glass for sharing. Get crazy and muddle some found (non-poisonous) berries with a twig for a craft cocktail experience.
3. Seating. Enough with this. Tote along enough (matching) folding chairs for the team. Toss on some clever cushions if you like, or some plaid wool blankets. You can even go crazy and hang these babies up instead of hammocks. The point is, create a seating area in the great outdoors that looks like a cozy little living room, not a tailgate party.
4. Buy this. Just buy it.
5. Details. Details put everyone in the glamping spirit. They also give you plenty of fodder for Instagram. What do we mean? Drink out of tumblers, not red solo cups. Write your campire menu on a chalkboard. Rope off your camping space with cute bunting. These things don't cost a fortune, but the experience is priceless.
