5 Reasons To See Disney's 'Frozen'

In theaters November 27th, the 53rd animated feature by Disney offers much to be hopeful for. With the company on a winning streak (Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph), Frozen hopes to continue the success of Disney's animation branch.

1. The film is a loose adaptation of a Hans Christian Andersen tale

Andersen, much like the Brothers Grimm, is best known for his collections of fairy tales. "The Snow Queen," first published in 1845, serves as inspiration for the story.

And Disney's last Andersen adaption wasn't half bad...

2. The onscreen winter wonderland

Animators visited a real life Ice Hotel in Toronto in order to study how the light reflects off and through snow and ice. The vast, wintry country in Norway and in Wyoming also informed the look and feel of the film. The art direction is also inspired by the classic 1940's film 'Black Narcissus,' acclaimed for it's vivid color cinematography and scope.

3. A stellar voice cast

New voices are abundant in Frozen, including Kristen Bell of the cult television show 'Veronica Mars' as Anna, as well as a representation of some of Broadway's finest: Tony winner Idina Menzel ('Wicked,' 'Glee') as Elsa the Snow Queen, Jonathan Groff ('Spring Awakening') as Kristoff, Santino Fontana ('Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella') as Hans, and Josh Gad ('The Book of Mormon') as silly snowman sidekick Olaf.

4. A production team to die for

'Frozen' brings together some of the most successful and acclaimed artists currently working in film. Oscar winner John Lasseter, director of the first two 'Toy Story' films and the current Principal Creative Advisor for Disney Imagineering, serves as executive producer; Chris Buck ('Tarzan') and Jennifer Lee ('Wreck-It Ralph') co-direct Lee's screenplay

5. A continuing tradition of amazing music

Christophe Beck, an Emmy winner for 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' composed all original orchestrations for the film. He has cited ancient Norse songs as inspiration for the score, recorded with an 82-piece orchestra and a choir of 32 voices. Original songs for the film are composed by married duo Robert Lopez and Kristin Anderson-Lopez, the former of which co-created some little musicals you might have heard of- 'Avenue Q' and 'The Book of Mormon.' Broadway queen Idina Menzel is featured in "Let it Go," and also has a duet with Bell, "For the First Time in Forever." Power pop princess Demi Lovato has recorded a cover of "Let it Go" to promote the film's release.
