Alternative Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT): Pills and Supplements If you suffer from low levels of testosterone, also known as Low T, and have "tested the waters" regarding the many forms of treatment available, you may have thought to yourself "Wouldn't it be convenient if there was a pill/supplement I could take that would give me a testosterone boost?" Maybe your curiosity even moved you to belly-up to the computer to ask the all-knowing Google what he (she?) could reveal about the reality of testosterone pills. If so, you probably discovered that there is an abundance of supplements (and purveyors of the supplements) on the market that claim varying degrees of success. Satisfied with the results of your initial search, you set aside your keyboard happy to bask, but for a moment, in yet another validating inquiry. A few minutes pass until your basking turns to doubt as you consider that what you've seen may be too good to be true. Now dissatisfied with the extent of your previous search, you don your proverbial frock and magnifying glass determined to get to the bottom of the matter. You return to your keyboard and type in the stinging string of words that is sure to unearth the truths about these pills... "oral testosterone therapy reviews". With the discernment of a super sleuth, you filter through the hype and the fake reviews until you come upon the facts that you had suspected existed all along. Your determination leads you to reports that shine a light on the dark corners of these oral supplements. You think for a moment how glad you are to have dug deeper into the matter as you read about the ineffectiveness of these pills due to the fact that they break down so rapidly. Then you read about how these oral supplements are known to have serious side effects like sever liver damage and you almost become angry. Finally you read reports like the one on livestrong.com that say "it is possible that testosterone can cause other severe disorders such as cancer of the liver" and you put to rest once and for all the previous hopes you had once placed in these convenient little pills. Take heart friend, for you do have other options. Though oral testosterone therapy is ill-advised and potentially dangerous (especially for your kidney), there are other treatment options that offer better results with a greatly reduced risk of side effects. Intramuscular injections are generally the most affordable forms of treatment as well as the most effective at elevating levels of testosterone. For those leery of injections, there are also mouth patches that release testosterone into the blood stream (thus bypassing the kidney) through oral tissues that have shown a marginal level of effectiveness. *Consult a local physician to find out what form of TRT therapy is best for you. **Google is not omniscient.
