Flyer Fans: The Best In The World

Every so often, something happens that makes you say, “This is why I love UD.”

The victories THE University of Dayton had against some Buckeyes and Orange (mascots should have been an indicator - a seed and a color?) were certainly up there.

But what separates us from anywhere else in the world is how we celebrate - together. We lift up Dr. Dan on our shoulders and carry him through the ghetto. We put up spirit fingers in Flanny's during foul shots. We hug absolute strangers (guilty). Because they don't feel like strangers. They feel like our best friends - even if we haven't met them before. We share a deep bond in being a Flyer, and that makes us feel like family.

That's why Flyer fans are the best in the world.

We come in all shapes and sizes. Some are rich and some are having a tough go. But what makes us Flyers is that we pick each other up when we fall. That's who we are. That's what we're about. A strong, unbreakable community.

And that's why for every person who says they're rooting for the Flyers, we'll give a meal to a Flyer fan in need.

We're all Flyers. It's an identity we're proud to bear, because it's about so much more. It doesn't fade after basketball season, and it doesn't weaken after graduation - it carries on, as strong as ever. And so do we.

And if anyone figures out why the Stanford Cardinals mascot is a christmas tree, please let me know.
