19 Times “Top Gear” Was Actually Really Really Good

Basically this article is all about Top Gear minus all of the bits when they drive around in expensive cars for 20 minutes at a time.

Yes, Jeremy Clarkson is in the dog house.

And arguably Top Gear show is nowhere near as fresh and as original as it used to be. Still, when you look back at at the history of the show you become increasingly aware that the show has achieved an awful bloody lot over the years, despite its faults.

1. When they drove a caravan to Dorset. It crashed.

2. When they tried to put a Reliant Robin into orbit.

The launch went without a hitch.

But then the Robin wouldn’t detach from the rocket.

So you can guess what happened. It crashed.

Boom.

3. But they did fire a Mini down a ski slope.

Without it exploding or anything.

4. And Jeremy did manage to fit into the smallest car ever.

5. Then there was the time when they were forced to test a Ford Fiesta so they asked baffling questions.

Answer: the corvette will crash into Birthdays.

They also asked this.

A Ford Fiesta is perfect for beach assaults.

6. Then there were the insults they wrote on each other’s cars when they were driving in Alabama.

Why? Well they were hoping that each other would be shot you see.

7. Another notable moment from that episode? This.

Don’t worry, the cow had died several days before. It is all OK.

8. Of course the show has had failures, like the time they decided to turn a Renault Espace into a convertible.

Why was it a bit of a failure?

Well, the roof doesn’t seem to look right from behind.

9. They also weren’t good at transforming cars into limos.

Top Gear / BBC / youtube.com

To do this, they had to cuts cars in half and attach some bits.

10. Why? Well some of the limos were a BIT long.

11. And Lemar’s steering wheel fell off completely.

12. But we learnt that you CAN drive a car like this.

13. What else have we learnt? Well, you shouldn’t put spikes on wheels if you are making a budget police car.

Why shouldn’t you?

14. They also weren’t very good at testing brakes of a British Leyland car when being told to park it at a top of a hill.

BBC / Top Gear

15. Or driving a British Leyland car over cobbles.

BBC / Top Gear / youtube.com

Bye back door, bye.

16. Or driving underwater in a British Leyland car.

Top Gear / BBC / youtube.com

BYE BACK DOOR BYE.

17. Or having to do anything with water.

BBC / Top Gear / youtube.com

In fact none of them seem to worked well in water.

Top Gear / BBC / youtube.com

That was from the same challenge, when Jeremy Clarkson decided to turn his Toybota sharply just when he was approaching the finish line.

18. And remember Oliver from Botswana?

BBC / Top Gear

“OLIVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR….”

BBC / Top Gear

But the best thing about classic Top Gear?

Top Gear / BBC / youtube.com

19. TOP GEAR DOG. God you were brilliant.
