A Cake Scandal Hit “The Great British Bake Off” And The British Are Angry
If you want to avoid spoilers, please run away now.
It started with contestant Diana removing Iain's baked Alaska from the freezer while it was setting.

Iain was not impressed by this at all.
Diana then said this.

So Iain decided to check whether his baked Alaska was OK. It really wasn't.
OH MY GOD.
How can you take somebody's ice cream out of the freezer? Not only should she be eliminated for that, she should also be arrested. #gbbo

So then, impulsively, Iain threw his cake in the bin.
This was Diana's reaction.

The British immediately jumped to conclusions.

Iain then left the tent and was very sad on a hill.

It gets worse. Diana presented her Alaska swan.

I'd have thrown her fuckin swan on the floor if I was Iain #GBBO

Even though Sue Perkins made this point.
Iain's Alaska was out of the freezer for 40 secs. That's it. No sabotage. 40 secs of normal temp would NOT be enough to reduce it to liquid

Our final thought?
The beautiful myth of #GBBO as a safe, delicious space, away from cruel competition has been shattered. :( IS NOT EVEN GBBO SAFE FROM 2014?!

Also remember this.

Diana, speaking to Free Radio, claimed "it didn't happen like that", and that the cake "was not out of the freezer for more than 40 seconds". She blames bad editing, and says Iain doesn't blame her at all for it.
The Telegraph reports that Diana has quit the show – although for reasons of illness, not because of the Bincident, according to the BBC. The show was filmed months ago, so her departure was unlikely to have anything to do with the national outrage over the melting cake. It does, however, raise the possibility of a dramatic return for Iain.
