To compensate for irregularities in the Earth’s orbit, New Year’s Eve 2008 will last one second longer than usual.

The extra second comes at 23:59:60 Coordinated Universal Time, or 6:59:60 EST. One second is plenty long enough to change your life, so do something rash!
