Could You Be Batman’s Greenest Foe?

By Mark Williams, Journalist at GreenHub

"Do you know how we survived before the mobile phone?"

This is something I'm sure you, like me, have been asked frequently!

Yes for most people now, the mobile is an essential piece of everyday equipment, (if I forget to take my device with me, I feel naked! Not a pleasant thought for you there!)

The common problem with our phones, (besides the rubbish signal!) is the limited battery life on them.

We all have been there, whether it's an emergency or we are in the middle of a deep conversation with our significant other and we see the flashing low battery symbol on the top of our screens.

Yet again I bring you an invention that tries to solve this dreaded event happening!

We have already seen trees, tables and even clothes that allow phones to be charged.

When I saw a photo of this invention, however, I was instantly drawn to writing about it!

Like something out of the Hollywood blockbuster, "The Dark Knight Rises" this device is sure to make an impression! (I'm sorry ladies, this device does not come with Tom Hardy included!)

    This is the "Aire Mask!"

Following the basic idea of the turbines we see fairly often in the UK, this mask has mini wind turbines that capture the wearer's own breath and generates electricity to charge your phone! (Not only can you look like Bane but also feel like a giant!)

    That's quite cool isn't it?!

Designer Joao Paulo Lammoglia won the "best of 2011 red dot design award" for the Aire Mask.

We are told that this can be worn whilst sleeping, reading or exercising and they say they hope it encourages the practice of physical exercise.

What I thought though was how it could possibly be used while attending comic con events (because you really don't want a low battery just when you are wanting photos with your favourite stars!)

My other idea was that it could possibly muffle your lover or housemate's snores (which let's be honest can really tick you off when you're trying to sleep yourself!)

Whether or not it is useful in these ways, I cannot say, but the idea is an interesting one!

As always, time is flying by, the world is forever changing, I'm sure in a few years new devices will be out that we will wonder how on earth we lived without before.

No matter what happens in the days, weeks, years to come, let's all try to live in cleaner, greener ways so we won't look back with regret and think "if only!"
