The World's Best Ever Gig?

#savethehalfmoon No music experience can ever quite match seeing your favourite singer or band in a small intimate venue. In 2010, Rumer performed on 'Later With Jools Holland' and her debut album reached number 3 in the UK charts. In September of that year, she also played at the Half Moon in Herne Hill. One Rumer fan travelled all the way from South Wales to watch her perform. Here is Mary's story.

"I saw Rumer at the Half Moon Pub in Herne Hill. I travelled from Bridgend in South Wales with my 18-year-old daughter after hearing her on Radio 2 over and over - I went from despair at not getting tickets for the Bloomsbury on the 14th to absolute heaven when I tracked her down to the pub. I have never been so blown away by a voice before.....I am 53 years old and it was the first time in my entire life that I felt like I did that night!!!!!! To be in such a small venue with so few people - most of whom seem to know her (I was sat next to Sam an old flatmate) was a privilege. I realise that my ramblings seem totally over the top but this girl is AMAZING."

Rumer herself tweeted to us that Mary actually appears in the official video of the gig (at 1:12). She also says that: "My favourite London venue is the Half Moon in Herne Hill."
