6 Excuses Everyone Uses Not To Save Money

Spend or save? Most people, when given the choice, are all about handing over the green - but what about the Future You? Here are the bogus excuses everyone uses not to save. Don't let these become part of your vocabulary!

1. But I'm getting paid soon

Your next paycheck will be here tomorrow or next week, so you can still spend knowing your account will be replenished soon..right? Wrong! You might not get a paycheck one day (hello dream vacation in Costa Rica) and will wish you didn't spent every red cent.

2. Retirement is sooooo far away

When you're still paying off student loans and living at home with the 'rents, it's easy to think that the day you quit working for good won't be here for a while. But studies have shown that saving a little bit early is actually better than saving a lot later in life. Get started now so you won't have to play catch up in a few years!

3. It's only a few bucks

4. I'm too broke to save

When you're living paycheck to paycheck, it can be hard to be put money away - you have bills to pay! But can you cut some costs elsewhere to make savings a priority? Maybe you drop your cable and only use Netflix? Or instead of a gym membership, you run outside?

5. I don't have a way to save

The old "cash under the mattress" system is definitely not advisable, so where do you turn? Start with your employer - they might offer a retirement plan and take the money directly out of your paycheck, so you don't have to do a thing except sign on the dotted line. Win!
