Top 5 Ways Sharing Your Location Helps Parents

No need to put a GPS chip in your kids with location sharing easier than ever

Parents often joke about putting a GPS chip on their kids to ensure they can keep tabs on them at all times. While this is unrealistic, and a bit creepy, there is no denying that location plays a huge role in parenting. Where are you going? When will you be home? Call me when you're there safe. Where the heck is your mom?

At Glympse we know a thing or two about the benefit of sharing another person's location. Here are our top 5 scenarios where location sharing can both help keep parents sane, and limit the amount of helicoptering needed:

    # 1. The final stretch. It's 5 p.m. and you are counting the minutes until your partner walks through that door to offer some relief with the kids. Are they on the way? Stuck in traffic? Stopped for food? Moved to Egypt? Have your partner send a Glympse when he or she is on the way, and watch as they make their way home. An added bonus? The kids get a kick out of seeing their trip giving you a few minutes without screaming, or whining, or fighting.

    # 2. Walking to school solo. Sure, you only live a few blocks from school, but letting your kids make the journey alone seems terrifying. Freedom is important, but before saying yes, show them how to send you a Glympse. You can ensure they make no stops or detours, and have peace of mind whether you are at home waiting for them, or at the office unable to concentrate until you know they are home safe.

    # 3. Conquering the public outing. Splitting up while at the mall, baseball game or amusement park can be essential to surviving these events as a family. Glympse, along with Glympse Groups, allows you to keep an eye on everyone's whereabouts. Did they get lost, or is the concession line super long? Is she still trying to win that teddy bear, or has she moved on to the haunted house? Is mom still looking at dishes, or is it on to shoes? Sharing your location lets you easily find each other throughout the day.

    # 4. Road trip virgins. Just because they'll be in college next year, doesn't mean you love the idea of a road trip, sans adults. Whether they are visiting Grandma, checking out a college or driving to an away game, letting your kids drive on their own for the first time can be nerve wracking. Glympse lets you keep track of where they are, when they will arrive, and how fast they are going. No need to risk distracted driving with a text – you'll know exactly where they are and when they'll arrive.

    # 5. I'm on the way… almost! Being late is just a part of parenting— whether a last minute diaper change, the case of the missing shoe or mom forgetting she has to get herself dressed in addition to the kids. Be honest with your friends and family about your tardiness by sending a Glympse before you leave so they know you're on the way. Other parents will understand, and your single friends will have a cocktail waiting for you.

These are just a few of the many ways knowing someone's location can come in handy. The possible scenarios are endless, and unpredictable (kind of like parenting itself).
