Which Clever Mnemonic Devices Do You Use To Remember Things?

Never Eat Shredded Wheat.

So humans have created little ways to trigger our memory and help us survive school, episodes of Jeopardy, and our daily lives. The ~fancy~ term for these tricks is “mnemonic devices” and they can come in several forms.

Or a simple word association trick that helps you remember the difference between “desert” and “dessert”.

You always want an extra helping of dessert, which means more, which means an extra “s.”

It could even be something physical like using your fingers to remember the multiples of nine.

How it works: Whatever you’re multiplying nine by, count that many fingers from the left and put it down on a table. The amount of fingers on your left is the first digit of the answer, and the amount on your right is the second digit of your answer.

So for nine times four, you’d lower your fourth finger. With three fingers on the left and six on the right, the answer is 36

Whatever it is, we want to hear about it! Tell us about your funny, creative, or dirty mnemonic tricks for remembering things and your submission could be featured in a future BuzzFeed Community post or video!
