Which Clever Mnemonic Devices Do You Use To Remember Things?

Never Eat Shredded Wheat.

Let’s be real: Remembering stuff is hard.

So humans have created little ways to trigger our memory and help us survive school, episodes of Jeopardy, and our daily lives. The ~fancy~ term for these tricks is “mnemonic devices” and they can come in several forms.

Maybe it’s an acronym you learned in school that has saved you from those dreaded pop quizzes. For example, remember “HOMES” and never forget the names of the Great Lakes again.

Or a simple word association trick that helps you remember the difference between “desert” and “dessert”.

Maybe it’s a short rhyming poem you've used to remember historical events.

It could even be something physical like using your fingers to remember the multiples of nine.

Whatever it is, we want to hear about it! Tell us about your funny, creative, or dirty mnemonic tricks for remembering things and your submission could be featured in a future BuzzFeed Community post or video!
