This Is What Jelly Belly's Krispy Kreme-Flavored Jelly Beans Actually Taste Like

Hi! We're Sam and Farrah. We love food — ESPECIALLY dessert — so when we heard Jelly Belly and Krispy Kreme were teaming up to launch donut-flavored jelly beans...we KNEW we had to try them. So we did!

The jelly beans come in five flavors: Original Glazed, Chocolate Iced With Sprinkles, Strawberry Iced, Cinnamon Apple Filled, and Glazed Blueberry Cake. YUM.

Sam's Review: What's crazy about the jelly bean is it sort of LOOKS like a donut — it has the same shiny exterior that a glazed donut does. What's even crazier is it TASTES exactly like a Krispy Kreme donut, but you're sort of thrown off because it has the consistency of a jelly bean. It wasn't bad, just a little jarring at first!

Farrah's Review: I was not expecting to get such an overwhelming kick of glazed donut right off the bat, but WOW. It actually does taste like the classic Krispy Kreme donut, except it's a little confusing because you're chewing a sticky texture instead of a pillowy one. Bonus points for capturing the sheen of actual glaze. This one wins in my book for tasting the most authentic.

Chocolate Iced With Sprinkles:

Sam's Review: Just like the Original Glazed, this jelly bean looked just like the donut it was supposed to taste like, complete with little rainbow "sprinkles." And it tasted exactly like the donut too — I just didn't like it quite as much because it had that cheap chocolate icing flavor (I'M A DARK CHOCOLATE SNOB, SUE ME.)

Farrah's Review: If you were to scrap the delicious chocolate frosting off a fluffy glazed donut, this is the exact flavor you'll get. It tasted VERY similar to the real thing! Chocolate sprinkle donuts are my jam, so I really enjoyed this one. However, I still think the glaze tastes the MOST like an actual donut.

Sam's Review: These are the prettiest pink candies, the photos just don't do them justice. Unfortunately they don't taste QUITE as good as they look, just kind of artificial and vaguely fruity. Not my fave!

Farrah's Review: Jelly Belly should really expand into the business of nail polish, because this Iced Strawberry color is something I'd wear on my nails. It doesn't quite taste like strawberry frosting, though. More like just strawberry. But to be honest, it's still really good!

Cinnamon Apple Filled:

Sam's Review: To be honest this kind of taste liked a candle, especially with it's chewy, waxy consistency. But that's not actually a bad thing? Again, not my favorite, but it tastes exactly as you would expect.

Farrah's Review: There are some SERIOUS notes of apple when you first chomp down on this one, followed by a cinnamon aftertaste. It's good, VERY sweet, but it doesn't exactly taste like the pastry? I think I was just expecting a little MORE.

Glazed Blueberry Cake:

Sam's Review: Blueberry-flavored things and I have a checkered history (blame it on a bad handle of vodka freshmen year of college) so I had low expectations for this jelly bean. Low and behold, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! It totally delivered with the warm, cakey, blueberry flavor.

Sam's Ranking: 3.5/5

Farrah's Review: You know what? This one wasn't TOO far off from tasting like the real thing! If someone gave it to me and had me guess what flavor it was, I'd have said a blueberry muffin, which is just a less sweeter version of what this is. I'm not mad at it!

Sam: Honestly these were kind of fun to taste all at once, and while your teeth might feel like they have a cavity after tasting a few, at least you don't have that feeling in your stomach after you eat a donut. I say go for the Original Glazed and if you have to, skip the Cinnamon Apple Filled.

Farrah This was a real treat! I'd say they nailed 3/5 of them in terms of ~authentic donut flavor~, which isn't too bad! Weirdly, these felt MORE sugary than a donut to me, but I'd 100% still eat them again.
