1. Edwina is center stage

In Julia Quinn's book The Viscount Who Loved Me, Anthony does originally plan to marry Edwina. However, when he's caught with Kate, Edwina takes a backseat. Though, she doesn't mind because she was falling for a scholar anyways.

2. Kanthony is never caught in a compromising position

Remember that bee sting scene? Yeah, well in the book, Anthony dramatically sucks the venom out of Kate's chest and they are caught, thus forcing them into a marriage very early on in their story. We definitely lose out on that slow-burn the Netflix series so beautifully emphasizes.

3. Kate's traumatizing backstory

The series does neglect Kate's backstory— most notably what happened to her biological mother. Throughout The Viscount Who Loved Me, Kate suffers from severe panic attacks during thunderstorms as a result of seeing her mother pass away during one when she was a child. This creates a beautiful bonding moment between Kate and Anthony one night when she finds herself hiding under a desk in the library.

4. They don't wait until their wedding night

In the book series, Anthony is the only Bridgerton brother to actually wait until his wedding night to consummate the marriage. However, this change in the show can't be complained about because it truly has become an iconic scene under that gazebo.
