Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie will lead an ensemble cast.

BBC One has released the first trailer for Vigil, a major new thriller from the team behind Line of Duty and Bodyguard.

The forthcoming thriller series from World Productions is set in Scotland, and was written and created by BAFTA-nominated writer Tom Edge.

The six-part series will revolve around the mysterious disappearance of a fishing trawler, and a death on-board the submarine HMS Vigil, both of which result in an epic clash between British security services, the police and the Navy.

In particular, Vigil will follow DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) and DS Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) as they lead an investigation on land and at sea into a conspiracy that goes to the very heart of Britain’s national security.

The cast of Vigil will be lead by Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster) and Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones), as well as Connor Swindells (Sex Education), Shaun Evans (Endeavour), and Martin Compston (Line of Duty).
