Among infinite examples I'm sure, "Nebulus" is used by Dumbledore in the most recent instalment of _Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them_. It allows the conjurer to [produce fog from the tip of his/her wand](https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Nebulus) to hide saucy encounters.

It's a real spell!

"Aguamenti" is a charm that [conjures clean, drinkable water from the end of a wand](https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Water-Making_Spell). It was once used by Harry to give water to Dumbledore in the cave at the end of _Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince_ – but you already knew that!

It's real!

I'm sorry, "Bladooey" is a totally made-up spell! Although I've decided that if it were an enchantment, the caster would use it to create their own theme tune that would follow them wherever they went!

It's fake!

Yes! "Waddiwasi" is a real spell that can be used to [shoot a small, soft mass of whatever the caster so desires at a target](https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Waddiwasi#cite_note-PA7-0). A famous example is in _Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban_, when Remus Lupin fires a wad of chewing gum at Peeves the poltergeist. Classic Lupin.

Again, a thousand apologies, "Agbock" is a neologism of my own making – sorry Snape! If it were a spell, however, I think it would be used to rewind real life! How useful would that be? That cup... un-smashed. That dribble... un-dribbled. Your ex... un-dated!

It's not real!

Nope, "Propyl Toters" is not a spell – I think I need some truth serum for all these lies I keep telling! If it were an enchantment in the Book of Spells, I think it would allow the user to turn a person into the thing they have misplaced. "Stand still darling, I've lost my keys!'

This is a real spell with a very specific usage! "Vipera Evanesca" is used by Snape in _Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets_ to [vanish a snake conjured by Draco Malfoy in a duel with Harry Potter.](https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Snake-Vanishing_Spell) It doesn't work on emoji snakes that I may or may not receive on Twitter.

Another lie! Detention! "Flamorae Sworn" is just gobbledygook (or is it...) and does nothing in the wizarding world. If it did, I think it could be used to change one's hair colour over and over again with no impact on the hair. Finally, a spell I can really use!

Sorry to disappoint but this is not a spell. Despite this awful truth, I do firmly believe that if it were a hex, it would allow a person to temporarily understand ANY language they heard and respond in that same language. The only thing is, you'd have to hear it first for the hex to work.

It's made up!

This is absolutely a legit one. You may remember in the _Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone_ film, Hermione uses this spell to light Snape's cloak on fire. J.K. herself has said this incantation should be used for [igniting small objects and materials such as clothing fabrics, as opposed to large objects](https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Lacarnum_Inflamari).

Yep, it's a real thing, people. This incantation [forces a wand to show an "echo" of the last spell it has performed](https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Reverse_Spell). Used several times throughout the books and films, it notably appears in a battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort in the Ministry in _Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix_.

Sounds real, right? This is actually total BS – sorry! I would like to think it were an actual spell, "Oculus insolo vitrum" would instantly add a 'sunglass layer' to your eyes to protect you from the blinding sun! Although, then you wouldn't need sunnies...

It's a fake spell!

Yay! "Mimblewimble" is a real spell – hurray! This [tongue-tying curse](https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Tongue-Tying_Curse) is used a couple of times during the book series: Harry, Ron and Hermione are affected by it after fleeing Death Eaters and seeking refuge at 12 Grimmauld Place in _Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince_.

Oh dear, somebody wasn't paying attention when the wands came out. You don't know your Accios from Alohomoras! Good luck unlocking doors.

Not bad, maybe you could do with skimming the _Book of Spells_ but your memory's not as bad as Lockhart's by far! Maybe try again?
