    Muhammad "Peace Be Upon Him"

Muhammad (PBUH), the last prophet to mankind.

    Muhammad “Peace be upon him”

Born on (570 CE – 8 June 632 CE) Muhammad (PBUH) Prophet of Islam, is the last prophet sent by God to mankind. He is believed by Muslims to be the messenger of the unaltered original monotheistic faith of Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and the other prophets. Muhammad (PBUH) ensured to pass on his teachings, practices, and the Holy book “Holy Quran”, which are all considered the basis of Islamic religious belief.

Born approximately 570 CE in the Arabian city of Mecca, Muhammad (PBUH) was orphaned; he was raised under the care of his paternal uncle Abu Talib. At age 40, he reported being visited by Gabriel in the cave, where he received his first revelation from Allah (God) . Muhammad (PBUH) started preaching these revelations: that "God is One", that one should have complete "submission" to Allah (God), and that he was a prophet and messenger of Allah (God), similar to the other prophets.

Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers migrated from Mecca to Medina in the year 622. This event, known as the Hijra, marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar, also known as the Hijri Calendar. In Medina, Muhammad united the tribes under the city of Medina. At this point, the Islamic State was launched. Before his death, most of the Arabian Peninsula had converted to Islam. Besides the Quran, Muhammad's (PBUH) teachings and practices (sunnah), found in the Hadith and Sirah (stories about him), are also upheld by Muslims and used as sources of Islamic law.
