7. One Stop Shop bridges the University of Michigan and Brightmoor Community

One Stop Shop (OSS) is an annual food & clothing drive jointly sponsored by the Redford Aldersgate United Methodist Church - Brightmoor Campus and The Detroit Partnership at the University of Michigan. This year's event will take place on December 6.

6. It's supposed to be a very cold winter.

Last winter, Detroit experienced 94.9" of snowfall on top of shockingly low temperatures, averaging 16.4 degrees F in January. Forecasters say that this coming winter is supposed to be brutally cold as well.

If you have extra hats, gloves, coats, etc., be sure to donate them to One Stop Shop to help a family stay warm this winter!

5. Clean out your cluttered apartment.

Did your housemate bring an extra microwave? Are you running out of closet space for all of your winter accessories? Perhaps it's time to sift through your things and donate any excess items.

OSS typically does not receive enough physical donations of small kitchen appliances (toasters, coffeemakers, etc.) or winter clothing items to meet demand. If you do not have a physical donation of this type, you can still help us out by making a monetary donation.

4. One Stop Shop served 400+ families last winter.

Last year, this event was able to provide hundreds of families from the Brightmoor neighborhood with groceries, clothing, children's toys, small appliances, a community meal, and other necessary resources.

3. Find a new home for that can of ravioli.

Chances are your mom or dad packed you a few cans of food that might not interest you. Did they forget that you don't like tuna?

Don't let that food go to waste! Give yourself some extra shelf space by sending it our way.

2. Make a child's Christmas

OSS accepts donations of new or gently-used children's toys. These donations are a great gift to families during the Holiday Season.

The Detroit Partnership is currently fundraising for monetary donations in order to make purchases of children's toys and small kitchen appliances (microwaves, toasters, etc.).
