Despite only appearing in 2 episodes, Christina Applegate won an Emmy for her role as Rachel’s overly candid sister Amy.

2. Ben Stiller - Tommy

The man who Tommy screams at in the theatre was actually played by Peter Bonerz, the director of the episode.

3. Bruce Willis - Paul Stevens

While on the set of ‘The Whole Nine Yards’, Bruce Willis lost a bet to co-star Matthew Perry. As a result, Willis donated the pay for his stint on Friends to charity.

4. Julia Roberts - Susie Moss

Julia Roberts was in a relationship with her on-screen love interest Matthew Perry when she appeared on Friends.

5. Danny Devito - Roy "Officer Goodbody"

Danny Devito was nominated for an Emmy for his hilarious and endearing performance as the stripper at Phoebe’s bachelorette party.

Jennifer Coolidge went on to play Joey’s agent Bobby in the spinoff programme Joey.

Dakota Fanning is currently the youngest person ever to have been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award, receiving the nomination when she was only 8 years old.

Brad Pitt was nominated for an Emmy for his role as the Rachel-hating Will Colbert. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were already a couple when they filmed the episode.

Adam Goldberg went on to play the father of Joey’s nephew, Michael, in the spinoff series Joey.

14. Brooke Shields - Erika Ford

Brooke Shield’s performance as an obsessive Dr Drake Ramoray fan led her to win the lead role in the sitcom Suddenly Susan.

15. June Gable - Estelle Leonard

June Gable also played the nurse in “The One with The Birth”, when Ross’s son Ben is born.

16. Paul Rudd - Mike Hannigan

When Chandler and Mike play ping-pong in Barbados, Chandler’s final shot bounces off the table, off a cabinet and then hits Mike at the back of his head.

Elliott Gould’s favourite episode, as stated in the uncut DVD version, was “The One Where Ross Got High”.

19. James Michael Tyler - Gunther

James Tyler was cast as Gunther because he was the only extra who could work a coffee machine on set. He previously played Bryce in All My Children, which he tells Joey when he discusses being killed off the show.

20. Maggie Wheeler - Janice Litman Goralnik

Maggie Wheeler originally auditioned for the role of Monica, but was turned down and given the role of Janice instead. No one could have played her better!
