Meghan Trainor Apologized For Her Controversial Comments About Teachers

    "I am just so sorry."

This week on Meghan Trainor and her brother Ryan's podcast, Workin' on It, the siblings sat down with Trisha Paytas to talk about motherhood.

When the topic of raising Daryl Sabara's and her kids came up, Meghan said, "We’re homeschooling our kids. Everyone on TikTok is like, 'This is what it’s like having kids in America. I have a bulletproof backpack.' I was like, 'Fuck all that.'"

Trisha agreed and said, "That, and also kids can be mean, teachers—" And Meghan responded, "Fuck teachers, dude."

Obviously, this led to a lot of backlash on Twitter.

Tweet saying "Wealthy women condemning public schools/teachers and flaunting their privilege is quite the choice"
Tweet saying how disappointed they are to hear Meghan "shit talking teachers"
"Why r trisha and meghan talking shit about teachers on their 'podcast'" and "parents will have these attitudes toward instructors and wonder why nobody wants to work in schools and teach their fucking brats"

Now Meghan has apologized: "Teachers of TikTok and teachers of the world, I recently said, 'F teachers' on a podcast, and that's not how I feel. I was fired up because I was talking about how sending your school here in America is so horrific. What all of us have to go through — especially teachers — is not normal and not OK."

Meghan explained that she was fired up because she and her husband, as well as Trisha, were bullied by teachers. "In that moment, I got angry and said, 'F teachers. F those specific human beings back in the day,'" she continued.

"I did not mean all teachers," Meghan said in the TikTok. "I love teachers, I fight for teachers. I think they have the hardest job, and they are the most underpaid. They are the most unappreciated — when they literally raise all of us. I don’t want to make excuses — I am just so sorry."

She continued, "I am so sorry to any teachers I made feel bad, and I will remind myself that my words definitely could have a consequence and I will be more careful."
