The Eight Coolest Things About A New Album Release
Every music fan gets that excited, fuzzy feeling in the stomach when their fave releases something new. Here's a run down of some of the best things we like to look forward to when a record drops!
1. The moment you hear about a brand new release
It’s been a good long while since the last single from the last album came out. You’ve been waiting for what seems like an age for new music and then you finally hear a rumour, see a tweet, an Instagram pic that just might be dropping hints of what’s to come and it makes you unbelievably happy!
2. When the first single drops
New music has finally made its way to you. You’ve heard it on the radio, most likely listened to an interview, it’s on YouTube and pretty soon it’s going to be available to download. The hype is almost too much to handle!
3. Album promotion leading up to the release
Yes! They’re finally doing promotion! This means sometime soon that artist could come to your city, perform the first single, premiere the first music video, reveal the album cover and be on TV. OMG, what is happening? Your dreams are finally coming true!
4. The social media explosion
Your fellow fanbase is on fire with gossip and news about what’s going to happen. Tweets about where your fave will be, what the artist will perform, official accounts tweeting about interviews, shows and tickets… it couldn’t get any more exciting — or could it?
5. The day the album comes out
You are so excited you can’t wait to go out and buy the album at your local store, and maybe even make time to go before school or work. If you’re really lucky, their may even be an official signing event going on. There are posters up around town and adverts on TV making the whole release official. You can’t wait to get home and drink it all in!
6. Listening for the first time
You’ve locked yourself in your room and have got headphones turned up to full blast. It’s already uploaded onto your device and you are so ready! Hearing new music from your favorite artist for the very first time is like an audio adventure.
7. Getting to the point where you’ve nailed all the lyrics
Correcting the misheard lines and checking the album booklet takes awhile, but when you think you’ve got every single song figured out and like you can recite the lyrics at the top of your lungs, you feel the like ultimate fan.
8. The announcement of show dates
This is the moment you’ve really been waiting for: the announcement of a tour. You’ve made a note of the dates and ticket release times and are already thinking about booking the time off as well as preparing yourself for the 9 a.m. online ticket sales. You have this in the bag, and all that’s left to do is wait.
