The Mormons of the area can’t be completely innocent of all accusation, for the businesses seem to fear neutrality in their dealings to allow someone to exercise their right to speech/expression. To fear neutrality suggests the Mormons aren’t as “peaceful” of a religion they claim to be, in some manner or another.
If you think this is in error, than I suggest talking to some of the Mormon groups in the area about the idea. The general attitude from the religion may shock you, despite the tolerance and love their god commands of them.
That was the general implication of the bible, but it seems those who follow the bible didn’t have the intellectual capacity to understand that, so a more specific declaration obviously needs to be made… just like when the North had to fight the South over the idea of Slavery being wrong. Words were too “complicated” or the thought process could not begin for some reason for the primarily Christian southern crowd.
If the Mormons of the area are so innocent, why would the companies in question fear their neutrality in business when it comes to the Mormon population not liking the message?
The level of fear suggests that the Mormon (or maybe even just Christian (too specific? …general religious then)) are not quite as peaceful, in some manner, as they may claim to be or are commanded by their creed to be.
