A Plea From My Mother, Who Is White
I call on my fellow brothers and sisters to look closely at what is taking place. I beg you, do not turn a blind eye. Do not revel in your privilege so much that you allow it to lead you to the ignorant bliss that so many choose. Collectively we can build a society that makes my mom proud, one that doesn’t prompt her to fear for my safety just because my skin is different from hers.
