A "fan" threw a Red Bull can, at a recent concert, that hit Harry Styles in the face.
The reason I have put quotation marks around the word fans in the title of this article is because I am using the term loosely; the reason being that I wouldn't consider these types of people fans.
Why does one buy tickets to a concert is the first question I want to ask. I think a simple answer would be because they want to enjoy the music of their favorite band and/or artist live and have the experience of watching them on stage. Being able to live and hear the voices of people you listen to on your phone or iPod everyday. It's a dream come true for the die-hard fans and a nice night out for people who enjoy music.
An example of a band with a huge fan base would be One Direction. It is no secret that One Direction has a huge fandom with millions of dedicated fans listening to their music, buying their albums and supporting them in everything they do. I am one of those fans and hence the recent event at a concert of theirs has pushed me to write what others are hopefully thinking. I also hope that you, reading this, whether a fan or not, would agree.
If you're not a fan or a fan who hasn't heard the news, Harry Styles was hit by a filled Red Bull can on stage. A "fan" from the audience threw it, aiming the can at his face, which hit him barely missing his eye. Now I'm not sure about you but I firmly believe that not only is this downright stupid, it is completely dangerous.
Here is a video of Harry Styles getting hit if you haven’t watched it already:
If you've bought tickets to a concert to listen to someone you like, why would you throw something at them that could surely hurt them if not injure them severely. Not only did she throw it at him, she was quite happy with herself because "Oh my god! I threw something at Harry Styles!!" Maybe, it's only me, but I honestly think this is the maturity level of a toddler: to hit someone with something and laugh.
I understand that you are excited and that fans all over the world of so many bands and artists and musicians throw things on stage; may it be letters or gifts or bras for that matter.
But knowingly throwing something that is bound to hurt someone cannot be justified by mere excitement. Why would Harry bleeding give you happiness? People don't realize that they're humans too. They get hurt, angry, upset. Yes they're performing for you after you have paid to see them. However, you have not paid to HIT them in the face and potentially make them bleed.
Harry Styles' mother, Anne Twist, also shared her concern on Twitter:
The girl has apologised for what she has done which is good enough. Anne also took to Twitter to request fans to not send hate.
All in all, please refrain from throwing things on stage, you're there to enjoy, so enjoy!
