Many children who are adopted wonder about their biological parents. Robbie and Doug were adopted as babies, and never knew their birth mother. They decided to find her and meet her.
This is Robbie. He and his biological brother, Doug, were adopted by the same family as children. He never knew his biological mom.
One day, he decided to find out more about his birth mom. She agreed to meet Robbie and Doug at her home in Colorado.
Robbie and Doug made the trek out to Colorado, excited and anxious to see what would happen.
Robbie's childhood friend expressed some concerns the night before, saying that he was worried it would "be a shitshow, but I hope it's not, because you guys don't deserve that."
The brothers were nervous, but excited.
When they arrived, they were all excited, anxious, and a little endearingly awkward.
Inside, Suzanne, their birth mom, showed them photos of herself at a younger age, as well as their biological siblings, who they've never met.
The boys were struck by how much they physically resembled their biological brother and father.
Suzanne told the boys about her childhood, and how she wanted the two of them to be adopted together.
She said she looks at herself as a surrogate mother to them, so that they could be born and be with their new family and "get their lessons done."
The guys told her they were "extremely thankful for the chance you gave us."
They hugged goodbye and headed out.
Reflecting on the meeting, Doug said he was impressed by Suzanne's strength and ability to give them up and do something so "amazing" for them.
