Two Time Grammy Winning Producer Carvin Haggins Takes a Stand Against Urban Radio for Playing Offensive Music

Carvin Haggins is taking a stand on over sexed offensive music on inner city radio and boycotting a popular Philadelphia radio station.

Mr. Haggins reminisces about the days when you could ride in the car with your family and listen to music on the radio station without feeling offended. Carvin states, he does not have a problem with artists expressing themselves, however they should keep in mind the messages they are sending to young children. The violence depicted in music is taking away from the artist's true creativity. Mr. Haggins pointed out several factors in the distribution of music over the air waves, an example is the difference on pop radio verses urban radio stations, the lyrics on pop radio are often time bleeped out or removed, verses on urban radio the lyrics are explicit.

Two time Grammy Winner Carvin is best known for working with the biggest names in the music industry such as, Musiq SoulChild, Raheem Devaughn, Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige, Chrisette Michele, Chris Brown, and many more. Mr. Haggins states he has had enough of the over-sexed, murderous, drug dealing negativity being emphasized in music over the airwaves. He has started a petition called Rage Against The Ratchet on Change.org to hold Urban Radio accountable for not making the music "child friendly" the way pop radio does. In specificity, Carvin will be boycotting and picketing against Philadelphia's Power 99 Radio Station on June 7, 2014. Carvin also has a Public Service Announcement video on YouTube where he gets into specific details on the music being played on Urban radio that promotes, date rape, sex, violence and explicit language.

In closing Carvin was raised in the heart of Philadelphia's Badlands, he began making music at age 11, and quickly developed a style that is uniquely his own. The Multi-Platinum Selling Song Writer, Producer, Engineer, Co-Founder of Karma Productions, Co-Creator of Forever Music, Inc., and a 2011 Creative Ambassador for the city of Philadelphia can be found every Sunday and Wednesday at Southern Baptist Church in Philadelphia, where he is a Reverend, Sunday School Teacher, and heads up the Youth Ministry.
