A man has been arrested after a police officer was shot in east London this afternoon.
The Metropolitan police said the officer, who has not been named, was taken to hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.
The force said details of his condition would be provided in due course.
His condition is not thought to be life-threatening, the BBC reported. His next of kin have been informed.
Police provided no other details on the arrested man.
A statement said officers from the Met's specialist firearms command and Trident crime command were conducting an operation in Scriven Street, Haggerston, at 12:45pm when the incident occurred.
