    This remake of 1978's cult classic Dawn of the Dead is has been considered to be one of the best remakes and zombie films of all time. Managing to combine sheer horror, drama, and a splash of comedy makes this a must-see for any horror film lover.

    Continuing the trend of remaking foreign language films, Let Me In is a retelling of the 2008 Swedish film Let the Right One In. Both films are equally terrifying and beautiful, with atmospheric story telling. You won't be missing out if you go for the remake.

    Not to be confused with the 2011 prequel, also titled The Thing. This 1982 John Carpenter classic is actually a remake of 1951's The Thing from Another World. Containing some of the most iconic scenes in horror cinema, adding this to your list would not be disappointing.

    There's something about this particular Texas Chainsaw remake that works remarkably, surprisingly well. Though arguably clichè at times, its also grittiness stays largely faithful to the original by being equally as terrifying.

    Whilst the original will always be a classic, the remake is worth giving a shot. Most characters may be what most consider to be those out of a "typical" horror movie, it makes it all the more satisfying to seem them full victim to the new Jason Voorhees.

    6. The Ring (2002)

    The Ring terrified audiences into believing that watching a certain VHS would give you a message, via a phone call, saying you would die in seven days. The film is actually a remake of the 1998 Japanese film Ringu. The original is terrifying, but there is no doubt the American version did a pretty damn good job.

    7. The Blob (1988)

    Cheesy as it may be, The Blob still a cult classic. This remake of the 1958 original is chock-full of tense moments and shocking deaths. If you're a fan of films with a genuine '80s horror feel, you're in for a treat.

    Any film starring Jeff Goldblum needs to be acknowledged. 1986's version of The Fly is no different. Whilst the original 1958 version tended to get a bit cheesy, the remake is all sorts of horrifying.

    The 1972 version of The Last House on the Left was one of the most controversial and brutal films of its time. Incredibly well shot and with a fantastic unraveling of the storyline, this is one not to ignore. Plus, Aaron Paul plays one of the main characters.

    Robert De Niro delivers one of his most sinister performances in the remake of the 1962 classic, Cape Fear. Foreboding and claustrophobic, this is one remake that will make you feel constantly on edge.
