It seems that girls can also have fun in the Wild West. The pop singer and queen Cindy Lauper channels her country side in her new music video for the song Funnel of Love. Not only in the song or the video, but her whole eleventh studio album, called Detour.
It's quite a new venture for the singer, that six years before released a smashing blues record, Memphis Blues, which shows how Cindy can sing every style on her way – maybe a rap or hip hop album next time? Who knows!
Even if sometimes looking a little bit out of place with the cowboy hat and all, Cyndi totally owns the song and the band performance in the video. Watch it below:
"A lot of songs on this record are from that period of country-western music right before rock & roll came along," said Lauper in an interview with People Magazine. "I studied a lot of singers, and Wanda Jackson, who originally sang this, was one of the original rock & rollers. I wanted this song to have that live sound, and it does."
Funnel of Love is Cyndi Lauper's take on Wanda Jackson's classic song that was released in 1961, and fans who pre-order the album, out on May 4th, get the track and the song Walkin' After Midnight in advance.
