The New Fried Burger Mashup You Need In Your Life

The best Brazilian snack ever + a burger. Are you feelin' it?

You're surely familiar with food mashups like the ramen burger and cronut.

But you maybe don't know about coxinha (pronounced co-sheen-ya), a traditional Brazilian snack of fried dough that's filled with juicy, shredded chicken. Nigella tried it last year and fell in love right away.

Me with coxinha in Bella Paulista: midnight feast of joy

Coxinha is a huge thing in Brazil. I mean HUGE.

Even the hipsters of Brooklyn tried it at Smorgasburg this year and WENT NUTS.

So we at BuzzFeed Brazil developed COXINHABURGER, a burger with a bun made of pure coxinha.

    Here's how to prepare it:

    1. Make the dough and shape into four 1-ounce balls (about 1.5 inch in diameter, about the size of a golf ball).

    2. Turn the balls into 3-inch discs.

    3. Sandwich shredded chicken between two discs and press the sides together.

    4. Use a separate small piece of dough to make the traditional coxinha tip and top one of the buns with this, then dip them into an egg mixture, then into the bread crumbs.

The buns should look like this:

    5. Heat enough vegetable oil over medium heat in a saucepan to just cover the buns. When the oil is about 350ºF (approximately 4 minutes), fry the buns for 2 minutes.

    6. Remove to a baking sheet lined with kitchen paper.

    7. Cook a 3-ounce burger patty and add cheese.

    8. Assemble. It's ready!

It's not beautiful on the inside, but no problem. Lots of people also aren't.

So how can we turn this recipe into something even more irresponsible? By ADDING BACON, of course.

Is it any better than a really good Brazilian coxinha? Is it better than a great cheeseburger? We won't lie to you: It's not. BUT LOOK HOW INTERESTED THIS DOG IS
