Hayleigh McBay, a 17-year-old from Scotland, decided to play a slightly cruel April Fools' Day prank on her boyfriend, David.
She messaged him on WhatsApp that she had decided to break up with him...but it didn't quite go according to plan:

Her tweet on the prank fail went viral, getting thousands of retweets by Wednesday afternoon and being picked up by outlets all over the web.
