What a load of shallow, formulaic rubbish. Imagine actually going through life with such a narrow, jaded view of humanity, filtering and interpreting every experience through some contrived, uni-dimensional sociological model. Thinking like this could choke the very life out of any artistic expression. Be glad it is limited to places like the Sociology Department at UC-Berkeley, where it can’t do much damage. That the author of this miserable screed fails to find any “depth” in the female characters says more about her own gender resentment than any real weaknesses in “Fargo” (though there are a few flaws in the plot that mar an otherwise brilliant vignette), the core themes of which apparently flew right over her head.
