    One Skinny Dude Tries On 10 Different Pairs Of Jeans In The Same Size

    Size tags lie. 31 inches do not necessarily mean 31 inches. Trust no one. The more you know.

    Unreliable size charts, vanity sizing, not to mention models photoshopped to unreal perfection make it close to impossible to shop for new clothes. At least that's what I've learned on Fitbay - the social media I co-founded to help people find clothes that fit.

    Seriously, try asking anyone you know (yes, even models): "Do you have trouble finding clothes that fit". Everyone will answer yes, but for different reasons.

    My reason: Skinny and tall = limited choices in the jeans department. And before you start playing that tiny violin just for me (ohhh, it's so saaad, he's so skiiinny) – check below. I'm NOT kidding. And I'm truly tired of skinny shaming.

    To prove this point I set out on a mission, following-up on MarieOspina's post. I decided to use my median size – 31'' waist / 32'' length (which is what I usually buy in slim fit) to investigate how different brand jeans fit and how the labeled waist sizes stack up against the actual measurements.

    Alright, so we're off to a pretty good start - these fit quite nicely even if the waist is off by 3 inches! Maybe a little on the short side but I'm not complaining. Classy fitting room too!

    At least I was able to button this pair! Waist and length are ok, but I'm not sure moose knuckle is in style this season? These jeans are sticking to me like flies on honey.

    Fit is okay but the legs feels more like regular fit than slim to me. Also, I can't wash off that horrendous A&F smell which pulls down. Seems fair.

    I… Can't… Breathe… These are not jeans, these are jeggings. And even if the legs are far too skinny, there's still a gap in the waist. Well done, H&M, well done.

    I seem to have lost an incredible amount of weight walking over to this store. I was seriously able to fit my entire fist down my pants. Not for any particular purpose *cough cough*. Handy on the couch, but not for walking around.

    It's hard to tell on the photo but these were way too loose in the waist. It's crazy that these were seriously 4 inches off the number on the tag when I measured them. Get real, fashion industry!

    The Conclusion

    So. What did I learn from my little super scientific experiment? Well. I learned that even if the size I go for is a W31''/L32'' my actual measurements might be closer to a W32''/L33''.

    Vanity sizing is real, folks. For the menz too.
