Book Lovers - Your New Favourite Charity Is Opening In Melbourne!

Congratulations bibliophiles - Two Buck Books is launching in Melbourne tonight and it's the charity of your dreams. Two Buck Books collect your unwanted books, sell them for two bucks and give all the money to a different charity every month - and they're starting off with some signed copies from author Bret Easton Ellis.

To celebrate the launch of Two Buck Books, literary anti-hero Bret Easton Ellis, author of American Psycho, Less Than Zero and other books, has donated two signed copies of his books, which will be selling for the cheap-as-free price of $2.

Creator of Two Buck Books, Robbie Coleman met Bret Easton Ellis a few years ago when he interviewed the author for The Thousands.

'We ended up punching each other on the floor which was quite interesting," he says. "We stayed in touch over the years just sending each other emails."

Two Buck Books is obviously a brilliant idea, because the name says it all - it's BOOKS for only TWO DOLLARS. If I was going to come up with a name for a business, it would probably be 'Product-Town' or 'The Contrabulous Fabtraption of Professor Horatio Hufnagel'.

But if you're not someone who's instantly won over by the name of a place, remember this is a charity too. Each month will feature a different charity to donate all the proceeds to, with July going to St Vincent de Paul Soup Vans. So now you can buy cheap books AND feel really good about yourself.

Two Buck Books launches at Fancy Hank's BBQ Joint on Wednesday 1 July from 6pm–8pm. Books are $2 and pints are $6 between 6pm–8pm. Donations welcome on the night.

To donate books to Two Buck Books, drop them off at Fancy Hank's, 456 Queen Street, North Melbourne, during business hours or between 10am to 11pm on weekends. Alternatively email to arrange a collection.
