Can You Guess Which Person Would Be Allowed Into The UK Under A Points Based Immigration System?

Boris Johnson and Michael Gove suggested today that the UK should adopt Australian-style [points based immigration controls](https://www.buzzfeed.com/sirajdatoo/what-does-a-points-based-immigration-system-look-like?utm_term=.goGP9PakZ#.emWqGqEAn) in the event of a Brexit.   
Under this system, newcomers would need to show they have the skills the UK's economy needs, along with a good grasp of the English language.

Who's getting in?

Billy is five. His skills include digging and hitting his sister. His skills would not qualify him for a skills based visa. Also he is too young. Like 18 years too young.

Charles was doing pretty well. He's an architect with a lot of experience under his belt AND a degree. But his English isn't great - it's 'competent' so he hasn't made the cut. Try taking some language classes!

Harper is a lovely lady, and her new husband is British. She's worked as a teacher for more than 30 years and she has a degree - but now that she's over 50, it's not gonna happen.

Access denied

Estelle did her undergraduate degree in the UK and then went back to France to work. But in the three years since she graduated she hasn't stayed in a job for more than a year, because they just haven't been the right fit. So ~technically~ Estelle, you don't really have any work experience. Sorry... I don't make the rules.

Ah, Daniel, you came so close! As a experienced roof plumber with a brilliant command of the English language and a wife who excels at making cabinets, it so nearly could have been. But sadly, your application was held up in an office, and in that time you turned 50 (Happy Birthday), so sadly, Daniel, I'm afraid you're now too old.

Sorry Joy, you seem really nice, but the only place we can give you work as a dermatologist is in York. Yes we know we have said your husband needs to work in London but what can we do??? If you can't deal with it, don't come to the UK.
