Is Tinder Ruining Old Skool Dating?

No right swipey no likey. Has Tinder really destroyed the old ways of asking someone out on a date? If so is this having a knock-on effect on the live music and clubbing scene?

A post on Facebook has gone viral implying that Tinder is destroying the live music and clubbing scene due to the fact young people no longer need to go out to ‘pick up’ someone, they simply have to whip out their phones and open up the dating app Tinder.

The app is already dominating the dating scene, and even celebrities have had a go such as Hilary Duff. But is it really stopping people from going to a club or live music event? It has been reported that half of the UK’s nightclubs have been shut down in the last 10 years, but does this really prove that Tinder is to blame.

Most would argue that it’s much easier to meet / talk to someone online than actually go to a bar and attempt to chat up one person who clearly isn’t interested. Whereas on apps such as Tinder you can avoid that awkward rejection as you can simply delete the chat and easily forget about this person if it doesn’t work out. Then carry on swiping for another match, and begin all over again.

Sure it’s nice to swoon over romantic gestures you see in the movies, but the dating scene has definitely changed over the last 50 years.
