The 10 Holiday Movies I Couldn't Imagine Going Through The Festive Season Without Watching

*Cue the most nostalgic, funniest, holiday spirit-inducing movies*

It's finally the most wonderful time of the year again. The air is beginning to feel crisp, the Starbucks holiday drinks are back, and Christmas music is once again filling the airwaves of your local radio stations.

If you are anything like me, you've already pulled your decorations out of storage and decked your halls with tinsel.

However, in my own personal opinion, the best part of the season is watching all of my favorite Christmas flicks — especially these 10 movies in particular:

1. It's a Wonderful Life

There is no arguing that this is the most classic Christmas film ever created. If you've never seen it before, don't let the black and white scare you away. Despite being over 75-years-old, it remains a favorite of all ages for a reason. It's full of heart, life lessons, and Christmas spirit. There's truly nothing better that having a fire in your fireplace, making some hot cocoa (perhaps with a little bit of Bailey's in it), curling up in a cozy blanket, and watching this movie surrounding by the glow from the lights of your Christmas tree.

2. The Santa Clause

This movie makes me feel more nostalgic than any other. There is something about watching this that make me feel like a kid again in the best way possible. It's whimsical and fun and has made me dream of visiting this version of the North Pole for as long as I can remember.

3. Elf

Find me a more quotable movie than Elf — I'll wait...that's right, it's impossible. I have probably said "Bye Buddy, I hope you find your dad!" and called people a "cotton-headed ninny muggin" hundreds of times. Will Ferrell is a comedic genius all the time, but this film specifically is on another level. Never forget that "the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!"

4. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Who doesn't love a wacky Griswold family adventure? This movie is iconic. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen it, it never ceases to make me laugh out loud. There is just something so relatable about a family desperately attempting to make Christmas perfect, while watching everything that could possible go wrong happen.

5. Eloise at Christmastime

This one is a bit of a deep cut, but my fellow '90s babies will know exactly what I mean when I say that as a kid, all I wanted to be was Eloise. A rich little girl with little supervision who gets to run around the Plaza all day with her best friend (and my first crush) Bill? This movie is pure sugar-coated nostalgia for me and while it may be cheesy, its a must watch for the holiday season.

6. Dash & Lily

Okay I know, I know, this is a series not a movie, so technically it shouldn't be on this list. I'm still adding it anyway! This is a Netflix series with eight episodes that premiered two years ago and it has been warming my heart ever since. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out — I don't think you'll be disappointed.

7. Jack Frost

This is another dark horse pick, but it was a childhood favorite. Michael Keaton plays a musician/father who dies on Christmas Eve, only to be brought back by his son as a snowman. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it's campy, fun, and very sweet.

8. Meet Me in St. Louis

While only a small portion of this film takes place during Christmas, it has been categorized as Christmas film for good reason — and it has Judy Garland singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." If you somehow haven't heard her version, go listen, cry, and then watch the film.

9. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

Don't get me wrong, the first movie is brilliant, but there is something about the sequel that feels even more Christmas-y than the first. It's the same cast and all the hijinks you know and love, but set in New York — it's perfect!

10. And A Christmas Story

Do I even need to add a reason to this one? There's a reason it plays 24/7 on Christmas day — it's a classic.
