He is great in Stranger Than Fiction (a more serious role), but I agree a lot of his comedy can be grating though (I do love Elf still).

Agreed, though in Jawbreaker she gets to push her character and show off her range (going from sweet nerd friend to queen bitch and back again in a believable way). Love her in all her roles though!

I think he plays a lot of different characters, but there's always a witty bravado to them all that's definitely just RDJ himself leaking through.

I feel like anyone outside the traditional hollywood look definitely gets forced into typecast boxes and we're missing out on so many great talents :(

I miss her as Sookie on Gilmore Girls. She has the range, I just wish she knew people wanted to see her even when we're not laughing at her :)

Saorsie Ronan is totally different in Atonement, Brooklyn, Lady Bird, Hanna, etc. She has some similar roles - like Kiera Knightley she seems to gravitate towards strong historical women - but she definitely has the range. Timothy and Beanie are very good at what they do but I agree…

He also was amazing in his more serious roles - Truman Show, Man on the Moon, Eternal Sunshine. But I agree a lot of his comedies they just let him run with it and be himself lol.

I feel like it's harder for martial arts stars to break out of the mold, since they're hired for that skill as much as acting and it will inform the character.
