13 Things You Didn't Know OFA Did In The Past Year

If you weren't around for these, don't worry. There is more organizing awesomeness coming this year.

A year ago today, Organizing for Action held its first Day of Action. Here's how OFA's amazing volunteers and supporters have been making change happen ever since.

1. OFA volunteers held their very first nationwide Day of Action for gun violence prevention on February 22, 2013.

2. Volunteers delivered 1.4 million petitions in support of background checks for gun sales to Congress.

3. When Congress headed home in August, OFA volunteers were there to meet them.

4. Climate Change Denier Awards: The fantasy of thinking climate change doesn't exist deserves another good imaginary phenomenon. OFA volunteers delivered these awards to 135 denying members of Congress.

5. Partners and volunteers flooded social media with messages demanding that Congress reopen the government.

6. Immigration advocates showed everyone what action looks like.

7. Volunteers from a wide range of organization came together for the OFA Obamacare Summit, to plan out how to help get people covered. Whoop whoop!

8. OFA held a contest for a handful of lucky and committed volunteers to meet the President.

9. OFA Illinois volunteers got a personal thank-you from Governor Pat Quinn for helping to make marriage equality a reality in the Land of Lincoln.

10. At Chasing Ice screenings around the country, volunteers showed their communities what climate change is doing to our planet.

11. OFA volunteers helped show why the Affordable Care Act matters. And there's plenty more where this came from.

12. Some creative OFA MO volunteers delivered bacon roses to small businesses to reward them for paying workers more than the minimum wage. Yes, bacon roses.
