Featured Cat: Egoz

Read up about Hillel’s first featured cat! Egoz (Hebrew for Walnut) lives with Emily Volz, Hillel’s Education Coordinator. He hails from Jerusalem, where he was rescued by Emily from a life of street-cat-dom. Read on to learn ten fun facts about him!

1. He's a baby

He just turned five-months-old. He’s got a lot of growing to do!

2. His favorite toy is a stuffed pink bunny rabbit

He likes to carry it around in his mouth. It’s much cleaner than a dead mouse

3. He loves to hide

He has a lot of fun hiding spots! His favorite spot is inside the washing machine. Others include: the oven, a duvet cover, and on top of cabinets.

4. He wants to be a dog

Like most dogs, Egoz wants to eat his owner’s homework. Too bad everything is digital these days anyway.

5. He's an indoor cat through and through

Last week, Emily tried to take him for a walk. He was pretty mad. Scratches ensued. He will forever-after stay indoors.

6. He has two older brothers

The brothers live in Berea, Ohio - just a short commute away. Over fall break, his family will be reunited. He can’t wait to tell them how college has been.

7. He has a soft spot for moisturizer

He will lick it right off Emily’s face! If that’s not exfoliation, I don’t know what is!

8. His original name was Shlomo

The guard who was his original caretaker named him Shlomo after King Shlomo because he acted like he was king of all the street animals.

9. He’s a snack-food noob

Both he and his owner Emily have never eaten a twinky in their lives! If you are a loving fan, you should buy some twinkies for them. There’s a first time for everything.

10. He's a Jewish cat at heart

Favorite Jewish activities include: playing with kippah clips, knocking over Shabbat candles, and saying the Shma every day.
