8 Hilariously Bad Bollywood Horror Movies That You Need To Watch While Drunk

And 4 movies SO GOOD that they will send a chill down your spine!

1. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022)

T- Series Films

Here's what you need to know:  

1. Kiara Advani is alive but pretends to be dead and hide from her family, WHILE LIVING IN THE SAME HOUSE AT THE SAME TIME as them. Genius! 

2. Kartik Aaryan aka Rooh Baba (umm, yes) has a "6th sense" which he uses to try too hard — to be clever, funny, cute, etc. 

3. Sometimes, it's okay to listen to a random dude who asks you to attend a musical festival instead of getting married because you avoid being on a bus that falls off a cliff. But only, sometimes. 

2. Darna Mana Hai (2003)

Ram Gopal Verma Productions

Here's what you need to know: Seven carefree friends get stranded in the middle of a forest on their way to Goa and think it's a good idea to sit down and tell each other scary stories. And then, one by one, they are murdered mysteriously by a psychopath who apparently hates when people are afraid of anything, so much so, that he would rather kill them than let them be alive in fear, because, "jo darta hai, woh marta hai", it seems.

3. Kaal (2005)

Dharma Productions

Here's what you need to know: Shahrukh Khan and Malaika Arora feature in a steamy title track and everything goes downhill from there. Nat Geo sends wildlife expert John Abraham a disc that explains to him that tiger poaching has suddenly spiked, so he decides to visit Orbit Park in order to investigate. Meanwhile, Vivek Oberoi and his friends are on a holiday with guns to shoot some small game, until they're coaxed to aim for something bigger, orange-r, and whose name rhymes with liger. They then meet Kali Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgn) and horrific things begin happening, including a human beheading caused by a flying car door (yes, I'm serious).

4. Raaz 3 (2012)

Vishesh Films

Here's what you need to know: Bipasha Basu is a movie star whose popularity is dwindling, whereas Esha Gupta is becoming a bigger and bigger star each waking second. This is unacceptable to Bipasha, especially since her boyfriend Emraan Hashmi also seems to be smitten by the new kid on the block. In order to seek revenge, Bipasha resorts to black magic (as most normal people do, obviously!) to put an end to Esha's life and happiness. Also, there's a clown on the loose, so you know it's a horror movie. 

5. Alone (2015)

Panorama Studios

Here's what you need to know: Sanjana and Anjana (Bipasha Basu and Bipasha Basu), are conjoined twin sisters who vow to each other that they will never be separated from one another. However, Sanjana (Bipasha 1) goes ahead and falls in love with Kabir (Karan Singh Grover) and demands to be separated from her sister. Rumour has it that Anjana (Bipasha 2) died during the operation but later, we find that Sanjana accidentally killed Anjana years ago because Anjana was also in love with Kabir. But it ain't that simple because more incredibly confusing sister swaps are in store for you. 

6. Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani (2002)

Shankar Movies

Here's what you need to know: Kapil (Armaan Kohli), a shape-shifting snake is on a mission to avenge his old lover's (Manisha Koirala) death by hunting down all the people who have tried to rob her of her honour. Although, if you ask me, the real horror lies in the fact that after two men attempt to rape a girl and then "apologise" to her when threatened to be rusticated from college, Akshay Kumar and his gang of friends convince her to forgive them because, "tum jaisi khoobsurat ladki ko dekhkar mare hue aadmi ka bhi dil dhadak uthta hai". His words, not mine. 

7. 1920 (2008)

ASA Productions

Here's what you need to know: Set in the year 1920, a couple moves into a ginormous mansion which, in my opinion is like asking for trouble from the get go. Shortly after, the wife starts experiencing an eerie vibe and complains about it but her husband is reluctant to believe her until one day, he discovers that she has been possessed by an evil spirit.

8. Krishna Cottage (2004)

Balaji Motion Pictures

Here's what you need to know: A professor writes a book containing nine and a half stories (because what's life without whimsy?) and only one copy of it has been kept safely at a college. One day, a group of friends discover this book and all hell breaks loose because the evil trapped in the book is now unleashed.

9. Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007)

T-Series Films

Here's what you need to know: Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja move back into their ancestral home which is rumoured to be haunted. No one is allowed to go up to the third floor of the haveli because that's where the spirit has supposedly been entrapped for years. However, Vidya Balan is fascinated by the folklore. Meanwhile, Shiney thinks his childhood sweetheart Ameesha Patel is so heartbroken over his marriage, that she is in need of professional attention. Enter Akshay Kumar. Upon his arrival, he realises that there is something not quite right about the story of Manjulika — the spirit that haunts the house.

10. Yavarum Nalam / 13B (2009)

Here's what you need to know: R. Madhavan is extremely happy now that he and his brother have successfully purchased a new apartment for their entire family to live in. Soon after moving into their new home, he notices some strange supernatural instances wherein a TV serial depicts the future of his family. 

11. Stree (2018)

Here's what you need to know: All of Chanderi village is constantly living in fear of an elusive spirit, Stree, who is known to lure men at night during festivals and leave nothing but their clothes behind. To protect themselves, men can adopt several practices, including, but not limited to writing, "O stree, kal aana" outside the doors of their houses. Despite knowing all of this, Rajkummar Rao can't help falling for a beautiful but mysterious stranger.

12. Tumbbad (2018)

Eros International

Here's what you need to know: Hastar is the son of the goddess of prosperity but, on account of his greedy nature, was punished by his mother to never be worthy of worship and to be forgotten forever. However, residents of the Tumbbad village still erect a temple in his name, thus inviting the wrath of the gods.
