    Thousands of Egyptians gathered at the presidential palace in Cairo and in cities across Egypt on Sunday to call for Islamist President Mohamed Morsi to step down. Protesters are calling for Morsi to resign and for early presidential elections to be held. Egypt's religious authorities have warned of the dangers of "civil war," with the army insisting it will not sit idly by if the situation continues to escalate.
