Execution: Texas Kills 500th Prisoner, First U.S. Woman Since 2010

    The state of Texas executed its 500th prison since reinstating capital punishment in 1982, and the first woman to be put to death in the US since 2010. Kimberly McCarthy died after receiving a lethal injection on Wednesday evening in Huntsville. She was imprisoned for the 1997 robbery and murder of a retired college professor.
