🚨 There are MASSIVE — and I mean MASSIVE — spoilers ahead for The Last of Us Episode 8! 🚨
I think I speak for everyone when I say that The Last of Us Episode 8 — titled "When We Are in Need" and directed by Ali Abbasi and written by Craig Mazin — was genuinely the most terrifying hour of TV this show has given us so far.
In this week's episode, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) encounters David (Scott Shepherd), a terrifying preacher who is leading a group of survivors. After David reveals that Ellie and Joel (Pedro Pascal) killed a member of his group, he kidnaps Ellie. This all leads to the terrifying realization that David is feeding his followers human meat in order for them to survive.
This section of The Last of Us Part 1 video game is also the most terrifying, so it's no surprise that it made for an on-the-edge-of-your-seat hour of television.
Alongside Scott's eerie portrayal of David, Troy Baker, who voiced and did the motion capture performance for Joel in the video games, appeared in this week's episode as James, one of David's followers.
